The Role

The modern workplace is changing, and we are excited to be leading and managing a series of major workspace modernization projects across Canada. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team and support a varied portfolio of spaces to be modernized: heritage building interiors, new builds, and institutional and commercial workspaces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead facilitation meetings to elicit client project requirements: current/future space utilization, the existing space description, and understand the future space objectives;
  • Meet with stakeholders to gather details of budget and schedule;
  • Develop project scope, requirement documents, statement of work, participating in client discussions, analysis of functional and operational requirements of the client and spaces;
  • Develop a detailed scope to outline the design objectives and accommodation standards, including furniture design, material and finish selection, integration with building components, telecom, physical security, architectural, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Assist in the preparation of recommendations to engage design consultants, preparing consultant Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and reviewing and evaluating consultant proposals;
  • Represent the client during design meetings and reviews, ensuring functional programs and space plans are produced in accordance with requirements;
  • Plan and coordinate the activities of project personnel, contractors or other support providers, including the updating of time schedules and budgets for project design and implementation;
  • Maintain the change management process that records changes to the scope of work;
  • Track the progress of construction activities and oversee RFIs, site instructions, CCOs, CCNs, etc.
  • Monitor the design, implementation and operations of the project against established goals;
  • Identify and resolve strategic risk issues with clients;
  • Complete project close-out and lessons learned documents.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in interior design or architecture (NCIDQ or OAA designations an asset)
  • 10 years+ experience as a Project Manager supporting large-scale workspace or accommodation projects;
  • Detailed knowledge of modern workspace standards and emerging design trends, e.g.: WELL Building Standard;
  • Experience managing projects throughout the full lifecycle: concept, planning, design, construction and move management;
  • Strong knowledge of project management best practices and a track record of successful delivery. PMP designation is an asset;
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills;
  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Word) and spreadsheet (Excel) software applications; and
  • Eligibility to obtain security clearance. Asset: existing security clearance.
